College Report

April 23, 2008 - There was big action in the weekend before the Penn Relays.

The biggest news involved an ex-collegian, Caitlin Tormey, who placed 23rd in the Olympic Trials marathon held in Boston. Tormey ran 2:40:29, a personal best, and showed that she has a real future on the roads.

The ex-Notre Dame and Princeton runner has now run four marathons, and each has been a personal- best.

Bothered by a sore knee for much of the past month, she overcame a course that featured some wind, and many tough turns.

Big college action took place, with several Islanders rounding into form at the right time.

At the U Conn Spring Fling Invite, Kyle Duggan (UConn- Farrell) placed second in the pole vault at 15-0.
